Edward Kurpis is currently a college professor/musician/management consultant and author whose essays have appeared in the anthology Inspiring Creativity, A World Within, Men’s Style magazine, and numerous academic and professional journals.

His essay “Soul Music” was selected the regional winner of the AWP’s 2007 writing competition for “Best Creative Nonfiction” while two other essays from this collection (“What Counts” and “Black Gold”) won the top two creative nonfiction awards in the national writing competition sponsored by the Southern Illinois Writers Guild in 2008.  These works appear in his latest book, Escaping Redneckistan: Stories of a Sensitive Boy.

      
Kurpis is also the co-founder of the CNBC television network, key strategic architect in the launch of MSNBC, and one-time chief financial officer of NBC’s cable television programming division. He lives on Long Island, NY.
